What is Digital Signage?
Digital signage is a form of electronic display that shows information, advertising and other messages.
Digital Signage can replace traditional posters, signs, menu boards, letter boards, scrolling LED displays, and other forms of communication. In all cases a digital sign can be more effective at getting the message across. Digital signs are easier to read, more dynamic and much easier and cheaper to update.
It's not just for marketing, you can communicate any information.
Some of the possible uses of digital signage include promotions, special offers, menu boards, pricing displays, welcome messages, checkin-procedures, or any other use where you have information or other messages you are trying to communicate.
Unlike a traditional sign you can change the message on your digital display in a matter of seconds. This allows you to vary your message by time of year, day of week, or even time of day - e.g. breakfast specials in the morning, dinner specials in the evening.
As you plan your first digital signage project you'll need to consider what type of display (LCD, plasma, or photo frame), how large it is, where you mount it, what playback device you use and what software you use to create and manage your content.
